Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods have unveiled the details for their Monday night virtual golf league.

TGL will begin on January 9 of next year with 15 of the top-20 players in the world pencilled in to play while Shane Lowry has also signed up.

McIlroy and Woods will run the indoor golf league through their TMRW Sports business, a technology focused sports company which was launched by the pair last year.

The format will be six teams of four plaguers representing American cities in a league.

TGL will use a matchplay format with two of the six clubs playing each other each game week.

The games will take place in Palm Beach State College’s SoFi Centre which is a custom built arena that can hold 1,600 spectators.

Players will drive into a massive golf simulator before moving to nine custom built fairway and green complexes, known as the green zone, which will use real grass.

There first nine holes will be played in an alternate shot format before each golfer goes head to head for the back nine and the team who collects the most points will win the match with the fop four teams progressing to the semi finals.

Each two-hour match will be broadcast live on ESPN in the United States with a UK based screening set to be announced.
