Áine Donegan produced a second consecutive under-par round on Day Three of the Espirito Santo Trophy to continue her ascent up the leaderboard at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
The Lahinch golfer carded a three-under 69, that included a hat-trick of birdies on 1,2 and 3, before another on 8 to go out in 32. This fine round moved Donegan into a tie for eighteenth on -3, and she now trails the leaders by seven strokes going into Saturday’s final round.
Elsewhere, Sara Byrne remains in T30 after shooting a level-par 72 to maintain her score of -1 for the tournament. An eventful 72 for Douglas’ Byrne featured five birdies which were unfortunately cancelled out by double bogeys on 3 & 6 and a bogey on 14.
Meanwhile Beth Coulter improved on yesterday’s performance to card a two-over 74 that puts the Kirkistown Castle golfer in T65 on +6. Coulter did manage a quartet of birdies during her round but a second double bogey of the week on the Par 5 10th proved costly.
Overall, Ireland are currently placed in T9 on -7 in the team event as the final day approaches, ten shots behind the leaders Spain and Republic of Korea.
