Sara Byrne continued her fabulous year with her maiden Collegiate win at the 46th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational in Lakewood Ranch.

Byrne’s win also helped the University of Miami golf team secure its first team title since 2018 on Monday, with Clandeboye starlet Rebekah Gardner also on the panel.

Fourth-year junior Byrne and sophomore Olivia Grønborg shared the individual title, posting a three-round score of 203 for thirteen-under-par. Both golfers shot a 65 in the final round as they posted the third best scores in Miami programme history over 54 holes behind only Dewi Weber (201) and Renate Grimstad (202).

Miami also claimed first-place with a program-record 54-hole score of 830 (-34). The Hurricanes’ previous program record for a 54-hole team score was 833, set at the Schooner Fall Classic in 2018.

The Hurricanes last team title came in March 2018 at the Hurricane Invitational, so this was a drought that needed to end. It is also the first time since 2018 that they have scooped both the team and the individual title.

Douglas native Byrne won the Irish Women’s Close title in Connemara earlier this year and she will head to next week’s World Amateur Team Championships (Esparto Santo Trophy) alongside Beth Coulter and Áine Donegan in red hot form.

Gardner secured a T25 finish on six-over-par.
