John-Ross Galbraith saved his best for last as he carded a closing, eight-under 65 to climb into a tie for fourth at the Clutch Pro Tour’s season-ending Tour Championship.
Starting the final day eight-strokes back from the leading 10-under total, the Whitehead man knew he’d have to come out with all guns blazing and that’s exactly what he did, birdieing each of the opening three holes and adding two more at eight and nine to round off a sublime front nine.
Two-in-a-row became three with another birdie at 10, and when he made it four-on-the-spin on the par-3 11th, he had climbed to third place on the leaderboard and was in with a realistic chance of posting a number that may not be bettered. Another birdie at 14 proved to be his final birdie of the day, and despite failing to take advantage of the par-5 12th and 18th holes, he posted a bogey-free eight-under for a -10 total that saw him take the clubhouse lead and provisionally move inside the top two.
Unfortunately, his final-round charge would see him come up just shy with the trio of Ryan Evans, Curtis Griffiths and Ben Evans all posting 12-under tallies, with Ryan coming out on top in a three-man playoff.
Still, it was an extremely heartening end to the Clutch Pro Season for Galbraith who climbed to 21st on the Order of Merit and pocketed his largest paycheck of the year.
Conor O’Rourke and Liam Grehan both closed out with two-over 75s to finish in 32nd and 49th place respectively.
O’Rourke ends the season ranked 54th and Grehan 85th.
