All 24 players will get a taste of the action on the opening day in Rome as both Luke Donald and Zach Johnson select four different pairings for the afternoon fourball session.
Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Viktor Hovland and Rory McIlroy will each play both sessions for the Europeans, while Scottie Scheffler, Max Homa, Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa will go twice for the United States.
The opening fourball match sees Hatton and Hovland take on the duo described as the heart of the American team, Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth, both of whom sat out the opening session.
Match number two sees Jon Rahm take Nicolai Hojgaard under his wing and he’ll again face Scottie Scheffler who will partner reigning PGA champion and five-time major winner Brooks Koepka.
In the third match, European veteran Justin Rose will play alongside rookie Bob MacIntyre and they’ll square up against Max Homa and US Open champ, Wyndham Clark.
In the final match, Matt Fitzpatrick is hoping to secure his first ever Ryder Cup point in the company of Rory McIlroy. The world number two faces Xander Schauffele for the second time today, but instead of Schauffele’s usual partner Patrick Cantlay, he’ll have Collin Morikawa alongside as the US team hope to rebound from a disastrous opening session.
