The European side face an uphill battle if they’re to remain in touch after losing all four of the opening foursomes matches in the Solheim Cup at Finca Cortesin.
Gemma Dryburgh, Carlotta Ciganda and Madelene Sagstrom will all play in the afternoon session having sat out the morning matches, and Leona Maguire and Georgia Hall will reprise the fourball partnership that saw them win their one and only match at Inverness back in 2001.
First up, Scot Dryburgh pairs with two-time Solheim Cup participant Sagstrom against Megan Khang, who won her morning match alongside Lexi Thompson, and rookie Rose Zhang.
Maguire was one of the few bright sparks in an otherwise lacklustre European morning performance, and back with a familiar teammate, will be taking on Thompson and world number two Lilia Vu.
Match number three features Emily Kristine Pedersen and Maja Stark against Jennifer Kupcho and Allisen Corpuz. Pedersen was well beaten alongside Charley Hull in the morning foursomes, while Stark was one of the better performers alongside Linn Grant.
Grant is chosen again, this time in the final match, joining Ciganda and squaring off against Ally Ewing and Angel Yin. Ewing, playing alongside rookie Cheyenne Knight, put Hull and Pedersen to the sword in the final match of the morning foursomes and she’s been rewarded with another opportunity in the afternoon.
Celine Boutier being rested comes as something of a surprise as she played extremely well in the foursomes and, at 4-0 down, Europe need to make something happen.
