A superb six-under 65 saw Rathfarnham Golf Club’s Liam Power take individual professional victory at the CTI Irish Assistant’s Championship Pro-Am at Ardee Golf Club and doubled down with team glory.
Power’s 65 was the lowest round of the day by a full six strokes and his exploits helped deliver his Pro-Am side the team title as well, securing a four-point win for Power and teammates Tommy Doherty and Aidan Marren from Monaghan’s Mannan Castle Golf Club, and Gary Connolly from Dundalk with a total of 92 points.
The trio of Liam Grehan (The K Club), Cian Geraghty (County Louth G.C.) and Reece Black, (Holywood G.C.) shared individual second place with level-par 71s, but nobody was able to come particularly close to the Rathfarnham man.
Second place in the team standings went to the quartet of Macreddin G.C. professional Daniel Curry and Brendan Healy, Tom Muldoon, & Diarmaid Durin all from Ardee who scored 88 points.
In third place, another all-Ardee trio of Keith Taaffe, Noel Malone, Stephen Englishby joined with professional Joel Funnell from Royal County Down and combined for an 86-point total that saw them take bronze in a break of tie via a better back nine.
