Nuria Iturrioz produced a stunning back nine display to force a playoff and claim victory at the inaugural La Sella Open on the Ladies European Tour.

Coming into the final round trailing by four, the Spaniard was treading water after trading two birdies with two bogeys in an outward half of 36 before bursting into life on the back nine.

Iturrioz would fire an eagle and three birdies on the way home, signing for a five-under 67 and dragging Germany’s Laura Fuenfstueck into a sudden-death playoff where a bogey by Fuenfstuek gifted Iturrioz two putts for victory and she duly obliged, capturing her fourth title on the LET and a first since 2019.

“Starting today with a bogey I couldn’t imagine this,” Iturrioz said. “But we fought for it, together with my caddie. I always try to push.”

“I’m very happy, all I can say is Vamos!” the Spaniard said. “It’s been an amazing week. I’m happy to win in Spain. The support has been amazing. I hope this tournament lasts for a while because I love this course. I don’t know how the phone is now going to be!”
