David Carey is proud to announce a new partnership with Fairways for Warriors, a U.S. based charity whose mission is to ‘provide hope, healing, and camaraderie for combat wounded veterans and their families’.
Carey will proudly wear the Fairways for Warriors logo on his right sleeve as he competes around the world in 2023.
The Dubliner spent three months in America earlier this year, winning two qualifiers enroute to earning his first start on the PGA Tour at the Valero Texas Open.
AT TPC San Antonio, Carey played a Pro-Am for active military on the Canyons Course after missing the cut, witnessing first-hand how golf can play a role not just for pros striving to earn a living, but for so many people just trying to live.
“I’m delighted to announce this partnership with Fairways for Warriors,” Carey says.
“All my life has revolved around golf and I’ve witnessed the incredible benefits the game can offer.
“Fairways for Warriors work with combat veterans, and people who’ve returned to America with injuries and PTSD, trying to give them an outlet through golf to settle back into everyday life.
“It’s a really good cause that I’m very proud to align with. I was obviously very disappointed on the Saturday of the Valero to miss the cut but playing in the Heroes Pro-Am for the military really put things in perspective.
“Everybody had a great time and it highlighted just how powerful the game of golf can be.
“It’s an honour for me to wear the Fairways for Warriors logo this season and I hope to make everyone proud.”
