Conor Purcell got the better of fellow Challenge Tour member Niall Kearney to take the spoils at the latest Hilary Links Golf Society outing at The Island.
The Portmarnock ace pipped Royal Dublin’s Kearney on countback after the pair returned creditable one-over par rounds of 73 in driving wind on Tuesday.

Purcell notched four birdies but also carded a bogey and two doubles in his 73 to best Kearney on the back nine.
Meanwhile The Island’s own Donal Murphy made home advantage count, winning the best nett while taking the last place on the podium with a 75.
And in what was an exciting day for the society, three-time Major winner and society President Padraig Harrington turned out rugged up to put in a stellar four-over par showing as a top class field lined out for valuable game-time on the blustery links.
