Ronan Mullarney secured a hard fought third Toro Tour win as he battled to a one-shot victory in Villa Padierna Golf.
The Galway man carded a final round of one-over 74 to finish on five-under, which was enough to edge England’s Harvey Byers by the minimum while Belgium’s Antoine Santarelli was third on two-under.
Mullarney, who appeared in the 150th Open Championship at St Andrews, carded one birdie and a pair of bogeys in a solid effort to take the title.
Successive rounds of 70 had given ‘The Bull King’ a three-shot overnight lead heading into the final round but Byers wasn’t able to catch him despite carding four birdies in his final round before a costly six on eleven proved fatal.
Grange’s Jake Whelan came second in the amateur section on eleven-over-par one shy of Michal Bargenda of Poland.
