Grange golfer Jake Whelan continued his fine form on the Toro Tour with a third place finish at Atalaya New and Old Courses.

Whelan shot rounds of 70, 70 and 72 for a two-under total, three shots behind Hermes Ferchaud.

Joseph Byrne from Baltinglass was a shot further back after rounds of 70, 69 and 74.

In a tightly packed leaderboard, Letterkenny’s Jamie Foley was eleventh on nine-over alongside Michael Green.

In the professional class, Karl McCormack faded on the final day, carding a three-over 75 to end the week in fifth place on four-under-par.

McCormack finished four adrift of Canada’s Jacob Lehman.

Galway’s Ronan Mullarney recovered from an opening 74 with a much improved second round 67 and he finished his week with a one-over 73 and a level-par total for 9th place.
