Galway’s Ronan Mullarney topped the tree at Stage One of Alps Tour Qualifying School at Acaya Golf Club.

Cork’s John Hickey and The Island’s Joseph Hanney also progressed to the Final Stage after finishing inside the top-13.

Mullarney who was a qualifier for the 150th Open Championship at St Andrews is looking to establish himself on tour for 2023 after the EuroPro Tour closed its doors last month.

The former Maynooth University graduate won the First Stage by four shots on five-under-par to progress at his ease.

Paul Murphy has work to do to ensure his place in the Final Stage after he opened up his First Stage campaign with a two-over 72 at Miglianico Golf and Country Club.

Murphy is currently inside the top-25 in 21st place and did well to recover from an early double-bogey.

Tom Dowdall is a shot further back in 28th place while Dundalk’s Daniel Mulligan who also appeared on last season’s EuroPro Tour is back on six-over and 45th place.
