Katie Poots will finish top of the 2022 Bridgestone Women’s Tour, after reaching the Match Play stages of the Leinster Women’s Championship.
Only Poots and Clodagh Coughlan were in a position to overtake Beth Coulter at the top of the rankings, but with Coughlan not advancing to tomorrow’s Round of 16, Poots is assured of the title while Coulter competes in the European Woman’s Amateur Championship.
Milltown’s Ellen O’Gorman ended the day as leading qualifer in Bray, shooting +3 over 36 holes.
O’Gorman finished four clear of Foxrock’s Jenny Maguire, with Irish Girls champion Poots coming in third a further shot behind.
In the Duggan Cup, both Greystones’ Sophie Lumley and Grange’s Orla Smyth finished on +15 to lead the qualifiers going into tomorrow’s Round of 16.
Two rounds will be played in both the Championship and Duggan Cup on Saturday, with the top four in each competition advancing to Sunday’s Semi-Finals, before two champions are crowned in the afternoon.
