Moyvalley Hotel and Golf Resort invites you to tee up in its Open Open Challenge running from July 8-13 where players’ scores will be combined with a nominated player competing in the 150th Open at St Andrews.
The unique competition is Open Singles Stableford but given it leads into the 150th Open celebrations at the Home of Golf from July 14-17, Moyvalley is changing the game and providing players with the opportunity to combine scores with some of the world’s best golfers.
HOW IT WORKS
You play in the Open Singles between 8th and 13th July and when you are signing in at the Golf Shop, you declare what player from The Open Championship field you want to be paired with. Both your score and their score combined will make up the result for the competition.
For example, you declare Rory McIlroy as your playing partner and you shoot 40 points. Rory then plays in The Open and shoots 10-under par. Your combined score is 50 points.
If Rory shoots 5-over par, your combined score would be 35 points, but we have more faith in him than that! If your chosen player misses the cut (or does not play) – then you are out of the competition… ouch!
Entry is just €25 for visitors and €5 for members (weekdays) and €35 and €10 respectively at the weekend.
This great value Open competition sounds like the ideal way to tee off the final men’s Major on the calendar. It will almost feel like you’re playing St Andrews yourself! So what are you waiting for?
