May’s Bridgestone Tour Player of the Month nominees announced

Alan Fahy and Katie Poots remain top of the Bridgestone Tours rankings at the end of May.

In a month that saw six events take place over both tours, the highlight was Colm Campbell’s win at the Flogas Irish Men’s Amateur Open and Scotland’s Lorna McClymont winning the Flogas Irish Women’s Amateur Open.

The month began with Jake Whelan’s dominant victory in Cork at the Munster Men’s Stroke Play, while on the same day Beth Coulter was the runaway victor at the Hermitage Scratch Cup.

May’s tournaments concluded in Belvoir Park, where the Ulster Men’s and Women’s Stroke Play championships took place. Aideen Walsh successfully defended the title she won in 2021, while Jack Hearn added his name to the Men’s trophy with a fine victory.

Whelan, Campbell, Walsh and Hearn make up the nominees for the May Bridgestone Player of the Month. Voting will open on Golf Ireland’s Twitter page at 1pm on Wednesday afternoon, and will close at 5pm on Friday evening.

The winner will join Olivia Lucas in the Bridgestone Roll of Honour for 2022, after the Lahinch golfer won the April award with over 45% of the vote.
