Shane Lowry is attracting significant support in his bid to land a second major title at this week’s USPGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club in Oklahoma.

The Offaly man finished tied-3rd at The Masters last month and followed up his strongest ever Augusta showing by also finishing third at the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head the following week.

Now Lowry has been gambled into 22/1 from 28/1 at the start of the week with BoyleSports and he has also been clipped into 8/1 from 10/1 to finish the week as the leading European, with just Jon Rahm (7/2), Rory McIlroy (4/1) and Viktor Hovland (6/1) ahead of him in the latest betting.

World Number 1 Scottie Scheffler is set to tee off as favourite to tick off the second leg of a historic grand slam bid after breaking his major duck at The Masters. The Dallas-area resident has claimed the Southern Hills venue is his favourite course and he is 10/1 market leader ahead of European pair Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy at 11/1 and 12/1 respectively.

Lawrence Lyons, Spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “It’s safe to say Irish punters think Shane Lowry has a really strong chance at the USPGA this week. The conditions are expected to suit, he has recent form to go on too, and the move into 22/1 from 28/1 means he’s going to tee off at his shortest ever price in a major.”
