Castle’s Robert Moran continued his bright start to the season with a superb opening round of four-under 68 at the South African Stroke Play Championship at Randpark Golf Club.
The Dubliner, who enjoyed a top-5 finish at last week’s African Amateur, carded six birdies and an eagle on day one on the Firethorn Course but also dropped four shots to be sitting in a tie for 9th overnight, five shots back of Altin Van der Merwe’s nine-under par lead with Christiaan Mass a further shot back in second after some impressive scoring.
It’s all to play for this week in the final leg of the #SASwing

Carton House’s Marc Boucher, who struggled last week, was next best of the Irish after a much improved one-under 71 that included two birdies and just one bogey to leave him on the edge of the top-30 heading into day two.
Galway’s Liam Nolan, who enjoyed an eighth place finish last week at Leopard Creek, had a mixed bag that included four birdies and four bogeys in an even par start to be sitting tied-44th.
