Holywood’s Reece Black carded a final round one-over par 72 to claim a one-shot victory over Liam Grehan at the 2021 Irish PGA Assistants Championship at Nuremore Hotel Golf and Country Club.
Black played the most consisted golf all week but victory came right down to the wire and he had a brilliant chip-in on the last to thank for a thrilling win. His five-over par tally, including rounds of 71, 73, 73 and 72 proved just enough to edge out The K Club’s Grehan who also carded a final round 72 as his great golf of 2021 continues.
The day belonged to Black, however, the 2017 East of Ireland winner proving he’s more than capable amongst the pros, too.
James McVickar tied third at eight-over par after cutting through the field with rounds of 69 and 68 to close out his tournament alongside Ballyneety’s Gavin Young who signed off with a 69 to complete the podium places.
