Seamus Power’s great form continues apace in Detroit after the West Waterford man birdied his closing three holes in a superb six-under par 66 on day one of the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
In as an alternate fresh off a tied-19th result at the Travelers, the 34-year old kept his foot to the floor with six birdies in a bogey-free opening salvo, good enough to sit just one stroke back of the early pace-setter, Brandon Hagy.

Starting on the back-nine, Power stitched his opening approach to set up a first hole birdie and that set the tone for a familiar day for the Irish Olympian whose form of recent weeks gives him a real shot at bursting into the top-125 on the FedEx standings.
Power currently finds himself in 159th place as he looks to regain his full playing privileges to the PGA Tour.
