The PGA EuroPro Tour is delighted to announce the 2021 Tour Championship will be held at Club de Golf Alcanada on the Balearic island of Mallorca from October 20-22, 2021 for a prize pot of in excess of €116,000.
The Tour has worked tirelessly to find a venue that offers a true challenge fitting for the end of the season where the top 60 on the Race to Alcanada Order of Merit will battle it out. Alcanada is the winter home to tour sponsors Trinifold Sports Management and their players spanning over 7,100 yards around the northern point of the island near Alcudia.
Owned by Hans Peter Porsche, the club – with its iconic 19th-century lighthouse dominating the views across the Bay of Alcudia – is a Robert Trent Jones Jr-designed layout and there has been significant investment in recent times, thanks to a €700,000 renovation, which saw all 18 greens replaced two years ago.
Since the course opened in 2003, Alcanada has established itself as a top European golf destination and also hosted the European Challenge Tour final in 2019, where former PGA EuroPro Tour players Richard Bland, Jack Senior and Oliver Farr all earned progression to the European Tour.
Tour CEO Dan Godding said: “We are absolutely delighted to be playing our Tour Championships in 2021 at Golf Alcanada. The moment you arrive at the course designed by the legend Robert Trent Jones Jr you realise just how special Alcanada is and we are thrilled to call it home to our final event. I thank the team at both Alcanada and Trinifold Sports Management for bringing us together and I look forward to what is no doubt going to be an outstanding event.”
Trinifold Sports Management Director Jimmy Byers added: “Dan & Barry have always provided a very important pathway for our elite amateurs and transitioning professionals. It was always a given that Bill Curbishley and myself would always help them through our partnerships and sponsorship of events. Golf Alcanada is one of the most beautiful settings in Europe with wonderfully accommodating staff and management. The course has been a warm weather training hub for us for several years and is exceptionally well manicured. It will be a proven test for the professionals.”
Kristoff Both, director of golf at Alcanada, said: “We rose to the occasion in hosting the Challenge Tour final in 2019 and we’re delighted and honoured to host the PGA EuroPro Tour Championships. The Challenge Tour professionals were very complimentary of our course, facilities and the organisation and we look forward to providing a similar experience for this prestigious event.”
