Shane Lowry is being backed to make a flying start to his year on the course as he prepares to make his seasonal bow in the HSBC Championship in Abu Dhabi.

The current World Number 35 makes his European Tour return on familiar territory having won the event in 2019 just months before he went on to break his major duck at the Open Championship in Portrush.

Now the Offaly man is seeing support for another strong showing in Abu Dhabi, with a second victory at the event shortening into 28/1 from 35/1 with BoyleSports. He is just 2/1 to finish inside the top ten with a top five finish backed into 5/1 from 13/2.

Lowry has also been backed down to 12/1 from 16/1 to win any of the major events this year, with his Open defence scheduled for Royal St. George’s in July and the USPGA seaside track of Kiawah Island also likely to suit his game.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Shane Lowry has picked a suitable course to begin his 2021 schedule and punters clearly think he has the game to win again at the Abu Dhabi venue. It served as a great platform for his stellar year in 2019 and we’ve had to clip him into 28/1 from 35/1 to get his season off to a flier.”

Shane Lowry Specials:

  • 2/1         Top 10 Finish
  • 5/1         Top 5 Finish
  • 33/1       To lead after 1st round
  • 125/1     To lead after 1st round & win
  • 250/1     To lead after every round & win
  • 100/1     To hit a hole-in-one
