Shane Lowry could not replicate the form he showed when firing a 63 on Friday as he struggled to a moving day level-par 70 at Sedgefield Country Club.
The Open Champion now has some work to do to advance to next week’s Northern Trust, the first of three final FedEx Cup events.
Lowry got off to the perfect start rolling in a ten foot birdie putt at the first but a poor day off the tee cost Lowry as he dropped shots on his fifth, seventh and eight followed up with bogeys at the 11th and 12th.
A two at the 16th was swiftly followed by a bogey at the 18th, where the Open Champion missed his eighth fairway of the day.
Lowry was projected to rise only to 126th on the FedEx Cup standings leaving him two shots shy of extending his season going into the final round.
The Clara man is tied 23rd on nine-under and will need to finish no worse than tied 17th to extend his season.
Seamus Power carded a bogey-free, three-under 67 to move up to tied 48th on six-under.
At the top, Si Woo Kim aced the 161-yard third on his way to carding a 62. At 18 under par, the 2017 Players Championship winner leads by two shots from Rob Oppenheim and Doc Redman and by three from Billy Horschel.
