The ever-impressive Colm Moriarty took advantage of pristine conditions to score a five-under 66 and win his first event of the season at the Portmarnock Links Pro-Am.
The experienced Glasson professional needed to be at his very best to edge Banbridge’s Richard Kilpatrick into second place by a single stroke.
It was still a day to remember for Kilpatrick who bagged a hole-in-one at the 11th but the day belonged to Moriarty who also collected the team honours alongside Eoin O’Connor and John Byrne.
Thanks @PGA_Ireland @conorgolf @brenwaltz and everyone @PortmarnockLink. Course in great shape as always. https://t.co/VMfmXyg1NP

It was a day where the cream rose to the top of the leaderboard with Waterville’s David Higgins, Old Conna’s Neil O’Briain, Tulfarris’ Simon Thornton and Limerick’s Tim Rice all returning two-under par rounds of 69 to share third.
St Margaret’s Shane Jenkinson was the only other player to manage par or better after returning an even par round to take seventh.
