Paula Grant finds herself just outside the top-20 ahead of the final day of the 90th Portuguese International Ladies Amateur Championship at Montado Hotel & Golf Resort.
The Lisburn amateur added a two-over par round of 74 to consecutive scores of 73 to sit in a share of 22nd at four-over par.
A stalwart of the amateur scene for many years now, Grant works full-time as an Optometrist as she enters another season in the unpaid ranks where she continues to fly the flag for working amateurs around the country.
Victory won’t be on her lips over the weekend in Portugal, however with the World Number 5 ranked Italian, Alessia Nobilio in total control ahead of the last round.
She sits seven clear at a whopping 11-under par after adding two rounds of 69 to her opening five-under par round of 67 as she looks to rubber-stamp her credentials as a real future star of the women’s game.
As for the other Irish in the field, Kirkistown Castle’s Beth Coulter (73,76,75) is just inside the top-40 at plus-8 as the talented teenager gets some valuable early season rounds of competition under her belt.
Clandeboye’s Jessica Ross (74,79,75) was 12-over through 54-holes while Hermitage’s Kate Lanigan (71,79, 82) finished day three at 16-over.
