Colm Moriarty and Charlie Denvir made the most of benign conditions to fire three-under par 68s that proved enough to take the spoils at the latest TaylorMade Winter Series event at Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links.
Playing off +2, Denvir went out in one-under par after he followed eight pars to start the round with a birdie at the 9th.
The Elm Park talent came home in two-under par with birdies on the 12th and 14th to round out a blemish free scorecard that proved good enough to take the Gross Prize. Denvir was also the only player in the prizes to par the 17th after a sucker pin outwitted most of the field on the day.
Glasson’s Moriarty meanwhile flew out of the blocks in three-under par with birdies on the 2nd, 6th and 7th and without a dropped shot in sight.
The experienced campaigner came home in level par with a bogey on the 13th hole but bounced back straight away with a birdie on the 14th. He then recovered from a bogey at the penultimate hole with a final gain at the last to secure the Nett Prize with a 68.
In-all, 98 players took part with the event boasting another full tee sheet as Ireland’s top golfing talent continue to keep the blades sharp ahead of the new season.
