Reimagined with direct input from Tour professionals, the Pro/SL golf shoe returns with a bold new design. One of FootJoy’s most iconic shoe lines is now 10 years old, and the latest Pro/SL is not just a cosmetic refresh. It was rebuilt from the ground up with Tour-player input, and the focus is clear: Improve ground connection, stability and comfort without sacrificing the athletic, spikeless identity that made it popular in the first place.
“We don’t just make changes to make changes, especially with a category like Pro/SL that’s been a global success for over 10 years,” said Patrick Trubiano, Director of Product Management, FJ Footwear. “This version of Pro/SL was designed from the ground up with Tour player input to deliver the best possible golf performance in an athletic, spikeless package.”
The updated Pro/SL features a new Z-TEC upper, a multi-layer construction designed to provide structure where golfers need support while allowing enough flexibility to you move naturally through your swing. Underfoot, the ARCTrax/SL outsole uses moulded traction elements and fin-shaped pieces to increase ground contact and stability across varying lies and in nearly every angle. The new Pro/SL is also 29 per cent lighter than the previous generation and features comfort coming from a StratoFOAM heel crash pad, slightly wider toe box and a responsive forefoot plate designed to enhance energy return. Taken together, the overall effect is a shoe that feels lighter and more athletic but still planted when you reach back for a little more speed with your driver.
The Pro/SL is ideal for the golfer who walks most rounds, practices regularly and wants performance without replaceable spikes. If you generate a lot of pressure in transition or have felt more-flexible spikeless shoes twist under you, this model is built to address your concern.
The outsole of the Pro/SL has traction elements that point in nearly every direction to maximise grip with the ground.
In the broader lineup, it sits alongside FootJoy’s Premiere series, but the two have different personalities. Premiere is a traditional, leather-clad offering with most models featuring replaceable cleats. It delivers classic styling and maximum locked-in traction in a ‘heritage’ package. Pro/SL, in contrast, is lighter, more athletic, and more modern in both style and feel. It offers Tour-level stability in a spikeless platform.
If you prefer classic saddle shoes and spikes, Premiere remains the standard. If you want a performance-driven, spikeless shoe that still feels serious under pressure, the new Pro/SL makes a compelling case. There are both men’s and women’s colourways available in the new Pro/SL, and all are highlighted below.
