The Grand Final of the Irish Golfer Events series for 2025 took place on Tuesday October 21st, which was a glorious autumn day at The K Club, North Course and as always there were plenty of thrills and spills.

The winner was to be decided by combining the Flogas Order of Merit scores (best 5 cards of the Irish Golfer season) with the final day scores, which had extra jeopardy attached as they counted for 1.5 times their value (so 30 points gets you 45 points etc.) so there was everything to play for on the day and the 80 players were treated to breakfast and lots of welcome gifts before they hit the course.

Having started the day five points clear of his nearest challenger on the Flogas Order of Merit it seemed that the title of Champion Golfer 2025 for the Irish Golfer Events series was Edmund Ryan’s to lose, but he still had to put in a performance on the day.

And put in a performance he did! Finishing in second place on the day with 39 points, behind Brian Commins who topped the scoring with 41 points.

The door as left slightly ajar by Ryan but the other contenders didn’t lay a glove on him at the final and in the end their challenges wained around the tough North Course. There were changes in the placed positions though with Edmund’s father, John Ryan jumping up from eighth to second and Brian Commins climbing from tenth to third, so the opportunity was certainly there.

Speaking on his win Ryan commented, “I’d like to thank all the team at Irish Golfer Events for a great season. We played some marvellous courses for amazing prizes, and the organisation for the events is fantastic.

John Ryan, 2nd place, receives his prize from John Shortt, Irish Golfer, Tom Walsh, Waterford and John Conroy, Flogas.

“I’d also like to thank the K Club and my playing partners today, and of course my father who introduced me to these events a few years ago.”

Brian Commins, third place, receives his prize from John Shortt, Irish Golfer, Tom Walsh, Waterford and John Conroy, Flogas.

John Shortt of Irish Golfer presented the prizes alongside Tom Walsh from Waterford and John Conroy from Flogas and while thanking all the venues and the players across the season he made special mention of a few key people.

“These events can’t happen without the support of firstly the great team at Irish Golfer Events who put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes to make these happen, so thank you to Peter, Ciaran, Alex, Matthew and all our staff who worked on events this year.

“But we couldn’t do what we do and provide the events we provide without the support of our sponsors so a huge thank you must go to Waterford, Flogas, Yoplait, Peter Millar, TaylorMade and Kinetica. They support us and you, so please do support them where you can”

Ryan received the title of Irish Golfer Champion Golfer 2025 as well as the Waterford perpetual trophy, a bespoke Waterford trophy to keep, a unique framed Bhios map of Ireland with all the events listed for 2025 and a free entry to every Irish Golfer event in 2026 so he can try to defend his title.
