Our latest Irish Golfer Event visited the thoroughbred county of Kildare and the spectacular Palmerstown House Estate championship course where blues skies obliged to ensure players were treated to a cracking summer’s day.

As ever, three categories were in operation boasting over €5,000 in prizes and there was hardly an inch given between competitors striving for their place in this year’s Grand Final.

In Category One, the round of his life saw 11-handicap golfer Paul Reavey coast to top honours by two points as well as bagging one of the Nearest the Pin prizes of a TaylorMade Hi-Toe wedge. Reavey, from Warrenpoint was playing in his first Irish Golfer event and took home a new TaylorMade SIM2 Driver plus sealed his place in the Grand Final at the K Club this October.

“It really was the round of my life,” said Reavey after his round. “Everything just clicked, I was a couple under through five holes and that has never happened to me before. This is my first time to play Palmerstown and I can safely say it’s one of the best conditioned courses I have ever played in Ireland. I will 100% be back!”

In Category Two the 40-point barrier was also broken when Errol Flynn’s 40 point haul off 13.4 index earned him a TaylorMade SIM2 Max Driver and his Grand Final Place.

Best gross prize went to Lar Ryan off +1 who carded a one-over-par 73 to win a SureShot laser rangefinder. The second nearest the pin was set on the new island green 10th hole at Palmerstown with 170 yards of total carry to a tight pin. Niall Callanan struck a laser like approach to 34 inches to claim a new Motocaddy electric trolley and proceeded to tap in for birdie, one of only 3 duces recorded on the new TPC Sawgrass inspired 10th out of a field of over 170 players.

Thanks again to everyone who took part and well done to all of our winners, especially our category winners who we will see at our Grand Final later this year.
