Golf-ball manufacturers are always searching for ways to make their product perform one of three ways, faster, spinnier or softer. For Mizuno, the goal for their new Pro X and Pro S golf balls was to meet the demands of players regardless of their game-enhancement needs. In reimagining its ball design, the company says it was able to deliver more feel while still being able to maintain speed.

Designed to complement the needs of players at the highest level, these premium golf balls bring cutting-edge technology and superior craftsmanship to every swing. Joining the Mizuno Pro family, they embody the brand’s commitment to excellence to deliver a new era in golf ball performance.

The Mizuno Pro S is engineered to provide the softest feel and precise control, catering to golfers who prioritise touch and finesse around the greens. Its low long-game spin and moderate short-game spin make it a go-to choice for players seeking maximum precision.

Key to its performance is a unique construction that includes a 12% thinner cover and a 6% thicker mantle layer, a combination that significantly enhances ball speed while maintaining a soft, responsive feel. Additionally, the Mizuno Pro S delivers a mid-trajectory ball flight, offering a penetrating and stable path that performs exceptionally well in various playing conditions. Complementing its performance is the innovative 332 Axial Flow Dimple Design, which reduces air resistance and ensures consistent, stable flight.

For players seeking a soft feel with versatile performance, the Mizuno Pro X offers a distinct yet complementary experience. Engineered for mid long-game spin and balanced short-game spin, the Mizuno Pro X provides a perfect combination of control and feedback, allowing players to excel across all aspects of the game.

Like the S, the Mizuno Pro X benefits from Mizuno’s advanced construction, featuring a thinner cover and thicker mantle to optimise ball speed without compromising control. However, it differentiates itself with a higher trajectory, producing greater peak heights and steeper landing angles—ideal for those who want precision on approach shots and greenside performance. The X also features the 332 Axial Flow Dimple Design, ensuring reduced drag and consistent performance regardless of weather conditions.

Picking the right model

Golfers who want soft feel and reduced spin to maximize distance should look at the three-piece Mizuno Pro S which has a large rubber core encased in a mantle layer and a thin urethane cover. Players who prefer more spin, a higher flight and a steeper landing angle should look at the Pro X. The Mizuno Pro X is also a three-piece ball that features a thicker mantle layer and thinner cover, along with Mizuno’s 332 Axial Flow dimple pattern for better aerodynamics. Both models will be available from Jan 22nd for an RRP of €55 per dozen.
