For the past few seasons, Wilson has focused a lot of its R&D attention in the golf ball category. They have created a great selection of softer-feeling, low-compression products like the Staff Duo Soft+ and the Staff Duo Professional as well as its Tour models like like the Wilson Staff Model that has increased its Tour adoption in 2021 gamed by staff players like Paul Lawrie. Now the Chicago-based company is shifting gears, offering a new ball for 2022 packed with new performance led tech designed to provide total performance from tee to green.
The new Wilson Triad 3-piece Urethane golf ball is the most technically advanced golf ball the famous brand has ever produced. An exclusive construction produces a high MOI that reduces driver spin off the tee, while increasing speed through the shot for a long and stable ball flight intended to find fairways more often.
“We are very excited to introduce this innovative golf ball for a growing community of competitive players who want to take their game to the next level,” said Tim Clarke, General Manager, Wilson Golf. “The competitive golfer striving to break 80 is who Wilson Labs had in mind while engineering the T3 Technology of Triad, allowing for pinpoint accuracy from anywhere on the course,” he added.
The advanced design on the latest 85-compression Wilson golf ball also includes the brand’s thinnest-ever cast Urethane cover. This high friction cover offers golfers tenacious grip for maximum club face interaction on short shots and extra spin with mid-to-low irons to attack pins with more spin and feel than ever before.
The patent-pending tri-balanced ball construction creates uniform density from layer to layer – rubber core, thermoplastic layer and super-thin Urethane cover – and eliminates any manufacturing inconsistencies inside the ball ensuring perfect balance and pure roll.
“Wilson engineers have come up with a very special Urethane golf ball designed to do everything a golfer is looking for – finding fairways, attacking pins and sinking putts,” said Frank Simonutti, Global Director of Golf Ball Innovation at Wilson Golf.
“’The results we’ve seen during our product testing have been incredible, with ‘best in class’ results for speed and distance off the tee and scoring and spin rates with irons when measured against the performance of eight rival golf balls currently on the market.”
To achieve the important higher MOI level, Wilson engineers moved the weight from the core to the outside of the ball. The precise transfer of weight not only increased the MOI, but helped achieve perfect balance within the ball that results in straighter shots into the green and straighter putts.
The Wilson Triad ball also comes in the uncoated RAW version (Triad R). The uncoated RAW finish was first seen on the Staff Model ball launched last year. The unconventional non-coated finish of the RAW ball features the same tri-balanced construction, delivering the purest clubface interaction for serious feel and control.
The Wilson Triad ball is available in mid February at an RRP of £39/€45 per dozen.
