In the run-up to the 152nd Open we have seen a number of brands release limited-edition collections. FootJoy has renewed its partnership with Harris Tweed Hebrides to introduce a limited edition “The Stamp” Premiere Series, footwear capsule.
This collaboration features a unique hand-woven tweed with a “basket weave” pattern that is redolent of a postage stamp. It is a tribute to the iconic 8th hole at this year’s Open Championship.
The fabric must be handwoven in the Outer Hebrides using genuine traditional methods in order to be able to use the name and logo, as governed by The Harris Tweed Act. This preserves the fabric’s integrity and distinctive character, which is globally recognised for its quality.
Each pair of golf shoes is accompanied by a distinctive shoe purse that is crafted from the same fabric as used in the manufacture of the shoes, and it is available in both the popular FJ Field and Wilcox models.
Mark Hogarth, Brand Ambassador at Harris Tweed Hebrides, said: “Getting to collaborate with FootJoy once again is quite phenomenal. Understanding the quality that goes into all their products, it is clear that they not only honour their deep heritage but also show a clear commitment towards the future.
“We are always looking for a strong narrative to tie the two brands together and for this year’s collaboration celebrating the 152nd Open Championship in Ayrshire, the design came to me relatively quickly.”
“Firstly, I always focus on the colour and at Harris Tweed® we are famous for our blending, so there is a melange of six different yarns colours used in order to get that depth from the different shades of blue. Using these colours alongside a pattern repeat that resembles a postage stamp which is so synonymous with the iconic 8th hole, it has really turned out quite exceptional.”
Using genuine, hand-woven Harris Tweed® wool cloth, hand-selected soft full grain leather, and luxurious calfskin embellishments, the “The Stamp” Premiere Series collection achieves the highest standards of quality, style, and craftsmanship.
Although the Field and Wilcox models are timeless in appearance, they are also brimming with performance innovation. The custom, gold Pulsar softspikes and the specifically arranged, multi-directional traction elements provide tour level traction. In addition, golfers can depend on a shoe that provides unparalleled stability and traction on any playing surface, regardless of the condition, thanks to the revolutionary VersaTrax+ technology.
The shoes will be presented to FootJoy brand ambassadors, including Justin Thomas, Max Homa, Wyndham Clark, and Will Zalatoris, in advance of the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon. For more visit FootJoy.ie
