A closing bogey cost Seamus Power a top-10 finish at the Sanderson Farms Championship as he carded a final round of 68.

Power had to settle for a share of eleventh place on eighteen-under-par, five shots behind eventual winner Kevin Yu who birdied the 18th in a playoff to beat Beau Hossler.

The Waterford man made a bright start with three birdies in his first five holes and added a fourth birdie on the par-3 10th.

A bogey came on 12 and he looked set for a grandstand finish after back to back birdies on 14 and 15 before a bogey on the last dropped him out of the top-10.

A bogey on the last also proved costly for overnight leader Keith Mitchell who fell out of the lead at the final hurdle and missed out on a spot in the playoff.

Yu birdied 18 twice, first from fifteen feet to join Hossler in a playoff and second from six feet to win his maiden PGA Tour title after a round of 67.

Yu becomes the third player from Chinese Taipei to win on the PGA Tour.

“I’ve been dreaming this moment since I was 5,” Yu said. “This is the dream for all golfers, to win on the PGA TOUR. I did it today. I’m thankful for my parents. Without them, I couldn’t have done that.”

This was Hossler’s 200th start on the PGA TOUR without ever winning — four of them as an amateur — and this is arguably the closest he has ever come to breaking his duck.

But he never gave himself a good look on the 18th or in the playoff.

“Even though I didn’t have my best stuff on the back nine I grinded really hard,” Hossler said “Hit some really quality shots under the gun, and that’s all you can do. Obviously, Kevin played a beautiful hole in the playoff.”
