BoyleSports has made Jon Rahm the 3/1 favourite ahead of this week’s Open de España at Madrid’s Club de Campo Villa.
Rahm will tee it up having already recorded a hat-trick of wins in his native country’s most prestigious golf tournament and the LIV star successfully appealed against his DP World Tour sanctions to play in this year’s event.
Already a two-time winner at the course, Rahm is the best backed golfer in the field, but may face a formidable challenge from fellow LIV defector Tyrell Hatton who is rated the likeliest competitor to put a halt to a home win at 9/1.
Tommy Fleetwood is also rated a likely contender at odds of 10/1, while Shane Lowry (16/1) will fly the flag for Ireland as he bids for a second victory this season, having scored in the Zurich Classic in New Orleans alongside Rory McIlroy.
Punters looking for added insurance have also played the Spanish favourite in BoyleSports’ Early Payout market which sees bets paid out as a winner if the selection is the sole leader at the end of round three, even if they fail to win the event.
Rahm is a 9/4 shot for punters looking to be paid out early, while Shane Lowry is 12/1, with the Clara native looking to build on three top 10 finishes in his last six appearances.
Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “It’s no surprise that Jon Rahm is a short-priced favourite having won his home open at this course twice in the past and despite pulling out of last week’s LIV Legion XIII event due to illness, he’s the one punters want onside.”
