Robert Brazill lies just one shot back going into the final round of the Clutch Pro Tour event at Redditch in the Worcestershire English heartlands.
The Naas man opened with a one-under 70 but followed up with a blistering six-under 65 to move to -7 overall, one shot shy of the 36-hole lead co-held by Englishmen Callum Barr and Owen Benson.
Starting on the 10th, it was a bit of a slow-burning round as four pars were followed by a bogey, but he’d regroup and birdie 15 and followed up with another on 18 before turning his attention to the front nine.
Now on a hot streak, he made it four-in-a-row with birdies at one, two and three, and he picked up another two strokes on six and eight to record the joint lowest round of the day and give himself an excellent opportunity to record his first victory in his rookie season as a pro.
Stuart Grehan is in with an outside chance of victory himself after rounds of 70 and 69 leave him on -3, just outside the top 10, with John Ross Galbraith on level-par the only other Irishman to make the cut.
