Limerick’s Tim Rice eased to a three-shot victory at the Vermilion Pro-Am at Carne Golf Links.
Rice carded rounds of 69 and 70 to hold off David Higgins to win on five-under-par for his first win of the campaign.
Teeing off with a one shot lead, Rice made the ideal start with an opening birdie. He followed that up with another birdie on the par-5 4th.
Two bogeys in three holes on the fifth and seventh brought him back to the pack but he completed a clean sweep on the par fives with a birdie on the ninth.
He made it back-to-back birdies on the par-5 10th to ensure he kept the chasing pack at arms length and another birdie at the 12th hammered home his advantage.
A bogey on the par-3 13th did little to halt him and he closed out the day with five straight pars.
Waterville’s Higgins closed out his weekend with a round of 70 to take solo second place on two-under.
Three-time winner on the region already this season Simon Thornton carded the low round of the day with a 69 to share third place on one-under alongside Richard Kilpatrick.
Thornton did come away with the team prize after his side won by a shot on 178 points after rounds of 90 and 88.
Colm Moriarty of Glasson Lakehouse carded a final round of 71 to take fifth on two-over-par.
