Softspikes® surged to victory at The Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard as the World’s No.1 player, Scottie Scheffler, put on a commanding performance during Sunday’s final round at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge.

Wearing his trusted Tour Flex Pro spikes in his Nike TW 23 golf shoes, the former Masters winner secured a 9th successive PGA Tour win by players wearing spikes.

In what were very challenging final round conditions, the World No.1 separated himself from the chasing pack with a dominant display of golf, reeling off 4 birdies in the first eleven holes and eventually winning by a 5-shot margin thanks to a 6 under par round of 66.

The win, his second at The Arnold Palmer Invitational, is also the second successive win for the No.1 spike on Tour, Tour Flex Pro, after last week’s Cognizant Classic. It was another strong showing for players taking advantage of replaceable traction technology, with 87% of the field at the season’s 4th Signature Event wearing Softspikes and 45% in Tour Flex Pro. In addition, 51 of the top 58 finishers chose to wear spikes over a spikeless alternative.

If one win wasn’t enough, the World No.1’s victory was quickly followed by a 10th successive PGA Tour win for Softspikes and second win of the weekend for Tour Flex Pro, as the winner of The Puerto Rico Open, Bryce Garnett, claimed victory following a 4-hole playoff at the Grand Reserve Golf Club. 33 of the top 41 finishers in Puerto Rico wore spikes.

On golf’s other professional tours, it was a clean sweep of victories on the PGA Tour Champions, LPGA, Korn Ferry and DP World Tours for players wearing spikes for the second successive week. The latter was a particularly emotional win, with the 30-year-old Italian returning to the winner’s circle after 11 years in the doldrums to capture a 5th Tour title at the Jonsson Workwear Open. He was wearing Pulsar by Softspikes in his FootJoy Traditions golf shoes.

Commenting on another dominant week by players wearing Softspikes, Joe Henderson, President, Softspikes noted: “To notch our 9th & 10th consecutive PGA Tour titles with both winners wearing Tour Flex Pro is extremely gratifying.

“Then to add to that a second successive week of spikes dominance around the globe clearly highlights the performance gains that wearing replaceable traction technology in your golf shoes delivers.”

Tour players change grips and traction regularly based on course conditions, but amateur golfers rarely think about the impact wearing spikes has on consistency and distance. To achieve optimal performance benefits, golfers should be switching up their spikes every 15 rounds.
