Robert Brazill maintained his impressive form in southern Spain as he backed up his opening 73 by shooting the same score in round two of the Toro Tour’s La Hacienda Alcaidesa event, to find himself in solo third going into Wednesday’s third and final round.
The Naas man had no shortage of birdies, making five in total, including four on the front nine, but double-bogeys at the fifth and 13th were the difference between a good round and an excellent round, but he’s within five of the lead in both the overall and amateur categories, currently holding second place in the latter.
Tyrone’s Jude Kane is the only other Irish man in the field, but despite making an eagle-three on the second hole, had a day to forget, culminating in a triple-bogey eight at the par-5 closing hole.
Brazill trails Gibraltar native Sebastian Desoisa by five in each category, with England’s Callum Barrow, who made two eagles on his way to a best-of-the-day 68 in round two, one stroke behind the Gibraltar man and four ahead of the Naas amateur.
