Hailey Davidson, a transgender golfer with dreams of competing on the LPGA Tour, won a women’s tournament in Florida.
The win increases her chances of competing on a qualifying tour for the LPGA after she came out on top at the NXXT Women’s Classic on January 17th.
The 30-year-old carded a final round of 73 for a 54-hole total of plus four which was good enough to force a playoff having been three shots behind with two holes remaining.
Davidson earned $1,576.51 carrying her season total to just over $4,000.
The Scottish native, who resides in Florida is top of the NXXT Tour’s order of merit leaderboard with 1320 points and she boasts a 150 point lead over her nearest challenger.
At the end of the tour’s schedule, 10 exemptions will be awarded to the top five points leaders to participate in the Epson Tour which is the secondary tour to the LPGA Tour.
Out of the five tournaments held in the league since November, Davidson has placed in the top-2, twice, along with a 7th and 9th place finish.
According to reports, Davidson had to earn approval from the LPGA while transitioning from male to female and talked began in 2016. At that time she wasn’t deemed eligible until 2021 when she had a full gender reassignment surgery which she claims cost her 15mph of club head speed.
Davidson is already in the history books having become the first transgender person to win a professional golf tournament prior to joining the NXXT Tour.
