Charlie Woods has accomplished a victory that his 15-time major-winning father has not.

Young 14-old Woods was a member of the victorious Florida High School Athletic Association’s Class 1A that secured a one-point victory in the state team championship on Thursday at Mission Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Charlie is a freshman at Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, and tied for 26th individually to help Benjamin win the title.

Watching-on was his proud father.

Young Charlie posted scores of 76-78-67 in the rainy conditions to be ranked fourth on his team behind schoolmates Jake Valentine (T-8), Brooks Colton (T-12) and Pavel Tsar (T-18). Woods also chipped in during his second round.

However, in all fairness to Tiger, he grew-up in California where these is no state championship in place.

Meanwhile, Tiger has yet to commit the next month’s PNC Championship, which he has played in each of the past three years with his only son, nor to the Woods hosted Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas in a fortnight’s time, though a ‘TBA Tournament Exemption’ is still the 20th and final field listing so hopes remain that Tiger may yet be there in a playing capacity.
