Castle Golf Club amateur Robert Moran guaranteed himself at least Category 8 membership for the Alps Tour next season after 36 holes of the Final Qualifying Stage.
Fellow amateurs Brandon St John (Portmarnock), Marc Boucher (Carton House) and Alex Maguire (Laytown & Bettystown) also got themselves Category 8 membership at the very least as they made the cut completing a clean sweep for the Irish amateur contingent.
Irish Close champion, Moran, will be eyeing Category 6 membership after successive rounds of 69 propelled him into a share of third place, just one shy of the leaders, on six-under-par with the top-35 securing a better status on the Alps Tour upon the conclusion of Friday’s final round.
Portmarnock’s St John shares 22nd place on level-par after a second round of 71. The Dubliner started brilliantly with a front nine of 33 before a birdie on ten took him to four-under for the round.
Dropped shots at 11, 13 and 15 undid some of his good work and a birdie on 16 was followed by a bogey, bogey finish.
Maguire sits just two shots outside the top-30 on three-over with Boucher a shot further back at Golf Nazionale in Italy.
At the conclusion of the 54 holes, the top 35 players and ties ranked according to score, will be eligible to receive Category 6 membership for the 2024 Alps Tour Season.
The rest of the players who will make the cut, and finish between the 36th and 65th position will be eligible to receive Category 8 membership.
The remaining players who compete in this Final Stage and conclude the tournament between the 66th and 156th position will be eligible to receive membership in Category 9.
