The R&A have named the nine-player side to represent Great Britain and Ireland versus Continental Europe in the Jacques Léglise Trophy at Golf de Chantilly, France, and three Irish players have been selected.

Roganstown’s Sean Keeling and Tipperary’s Donnacha Cleary, both 16-years-old, will be joined by 17-year-old Douglas man Jack Murphy when the annual encounter takes place on Friday, 25 and Saturday, 26 August, with GB&I aiming to halt a run that has seen the Continent of Europe win the last three matches.

Murphy is fresh off a course-record setting round at Fulford Golf Club in last week’s Boy’s Amateur Championship where he finished as joint leading qualifier in the strokeplay section before falling in the round of 64.

Cleary went to the last-16 in the same event before losing in heartbreaking fashion on the 21st hole to eventual semi-finalist Oscar Bach of Norway, and Keeling comes in after a memorable year that saw him win three early season events in Spain before taking victory at the Scottish Boys Championship in April.

The GB&I team in full is:

Hugh Adams Hagley England 18
Donnacha Cleary Tipperary Ireland 16
Monty Holcombe Walton Heath England 16
Sean Keeling Roganstown Ireland 16
Kris Kim Walton Heath England 15
Oliver Mukherjee Loretto Scotland 17
Jack Murphy Douglas Ireland 17
Dylan Shaw-Radford Huddersfield England 18
Niall Shiels Donegan Mill Valley Scotland 18

Reserve: William Sandoz    Carden Park   Wales         17
