Four players shared top spot at the Conor O’Dwyer Pro-Am in aid of the Children’s Health Foundation Crumlin in Kilkea Castle.
Blustery conditions greeted the players as Storm Betty began to brew but Damian Mooney, Paul Eivers, Sean O’Donoghue and David Ryan managed to grab a share of the spoils.
The quartet shot rounds of 68 to win on two-under-par.
For Lough Erne veteran Mooney it’s his second shared win of the season after a busy schedule that included playing all four rounds in last month’s Senior Open Championship.
Cahir Park’s Eivers picked up his second win of the season and second win in his last six starts after winning the St Helen’s Bay Pro-Am last month while Mount Wolseley’s O’Donoghue collected his first win on the region this season as did East Cork’s David Ryan.
Limerick’s Tim Rice and serial winner this term Colm Moriarty (Glasson) were a shot outside of the spoils on one-under-par with Seamus Clinton of Redcastle and Milicent’s Owen O’Loughlin a shot further back.
Irish PGA Champion David Higgins shot a three-over 73 although his team did emerge the winners of the pro-am with 95 points which was good enough for a two-shot win over Moriarty’s charges.
The golf wasn’t the only show in town in Kilkea Castle on Friday. Joe Dillon, better known as ‘Joe the Pro’ who runs a golf academy in Fordstown Co. Meath tied the knot and held his wedding reception in the castle.
