Mullarkey wins Leinster O60 Men’s Veterans Amateur Open

Paul Mullarkey was the winner of the Leinster O60 Men’s Veterans Amateur Open Championship. The event took place at Kilkea Castle on 1 August which saw 71 men compete over 18 holes of stroke play.

The Carton House golfer shot a round of level par which included four birdies on the front nine. Tommy Lennon (Carlow) finished in second, one shot further back, after carding a round of 71. Greystones’ Tom Byrne finished in third with a score of +2 alongside John Mitchell (Tramore).

Meanwhile, Janet Robinson was the winner of the Ulster Women’s O50 nett Stableford for Veteran’s Cup. The event took place at Carrickfergus Golf Club on 25 July where 34 women competed over 18 holes of nett Stableford.

Robinson shot a score of 37 Stableford points to win the event after beating Helen Wallace on a countback. Julie Adair (Carrickfergus) finished in third after posting a score of 34 Stableford points.
