Olivia Mehaffey picked up her best LET finish of the season as a weekend recovery saw her climb to third place at the Ladies Open by Pickala.

Having been four-over through 12 holes of her opening round she salvaged a one-over 73 before rounds of 66 and 68 saw her move to nine-under-par, six shots behind eventual winner Carmen Alonso.

Mehaffey birdied two of her first five holes either side of a bogey on 4 before a third birdie of the day on the par-5 8th saw her turn in 34.

The Tandragee woman hit double figures for the week after a hat trick of birdies from the 12th before a bogey on the par-5 16th dropped her back to nine-under.

It’s three cuts in a row for Mehaffey after finishes of 12th and 50th prior to this week as she continues her return to form.

“I putted very nicely and didn’t hit any shots that put me in a lot of trouble today,” Mehaffey said. “I’m really proud of the work I’ve done and the fact that my team have stuck by me.”

Spaniar Alonso upstaged Johanna Gustavsson with a four-under 68 to win by one on fifteen-under-par.
