There will be no Irish involvement in the third and final round of the Clutch Pro Tour’s Machynys event at the Nicklaus designed course in southern Wales.
Daniel Mulligan, John-ross Galbraith and Daniel Brennan all finished outside the top-50 and ties cut off point after round two, though Mulligan can take heart from a second-round 68. The damage was done in round one, with Mulligan and Brennan both carding 79s while Galbraith put rounds of 75 and 73 together.
Englishman Jake Ayers leads the way going into the final round at -12, and he enjoys a two-stroke lead over Brandon Robinson Thompson who tasted glory last week at Galgorm, picking up the biggest paycheck doled out on the Clutch Pro Tour this season.
Robinson Thompson is joined on -10 by Jack Yule, with Olly Huggins two further adrift on -8.
They look set to contest the victory in the final round, though a four-strong contingent at -7 are waiting in the wings and could yet spoil the party if one of them go low and set a clubhouse target.
