Royal Dublin’s Hugh Foley fired a six-under 64 to win the Faldo Elite Tour at Welwyn Garden City as he gave himself a confidence boost heading to this week’s Brabazon Trophy.

Foley warmed up for his Sunningdale date with a two shot win while Marc Boucher, Patrick Keeling and Sean Keeling, also enjoyed good rounds ahead of Thursday’s Brabazon.

All good rounds start with a bogey and Foley recovered from an opening blemish with birdies on 2, 6, 8 and 9 to turn in 32 and he repeated the act on his way home with birdies on 11, 13 and 17.

Boucher (Carton House) and Patrick Keeling (Roganstown) shared fourth place on two-under while Sean Keeling shot a one-over 71 for eleventh place.

Letterkenny’s Padraig O’Dochartaigh shot a three-over 73 for a top-20 finish.

The field included Walker Cup contenders Arron Edwards-Hill, George Ash and Josh Berry.
