Max Kennedy will take a one shot lead into the final round of the Aggie Invitational as he goes in search of a maiden individual collegiate title for Louisville.
The Royal Dublin talent carded rounds of 71 and a brilliant 66 to move to the head of affairs at seven-under par, one shot clear of Phichaksn Maichon and teammate Sebastian Moss.
Kennedy has carded 11 birdies through 36 holes as his red hot form continues. He’s going for his fifth-straight top-10 finish this week and is the headliner for the Cards this season with a 71.15 stroke average.
As a whole, the No. 33 University of Louisville men’s golf team sets a mean pace at the par-72, 7,227-yard Traditions Club, leading Texas A&M by 11 strokes in the team standings.
The Cardinals entered the final regular season weekend ranked No. 33 in the Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches Poll and No. 34 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Collegiate Ranking presented by StrackaLine and the Golfstat Ranking.
The Cardinals are coming off their best performance of the spring at the All-American Invitational where they finished in a tie for second place and tied for fourth at the General Hackler, but with a commanding lead in the team competition, spearheaded by Kennedy out in front, they’d dearly love to finish the job off Tuesday and claim a clean-sweep.
