World Number One Rose Zhang will take a five shot lead into the final round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur after refusing to take the foot off the pedal at Champions Retreat on Thursday.

The Stanford sophomore sits atop the board at 13-under par after destroying the 36-hole scoring record of five-under 139 set by Jennifer Kupcho in 2019.

Zhang followed up her record round of 66 on Wednesday by going one stroke better with a 65 in round two and as the tournament moves to Augusta National for a practice round on Friday ahead of Saturday’s finale, the American’s counting her blessings as her dominance atop women’s amateur golf continues.

“I’m just super blessed to be in this kind of position,” Zhang said. “I know that it’s very rare, and I believe that it’s just something that to keep in mind that no matter what happens, I’m always super proud of everything that I’ve accomplished thus far. The job’s not done yet. We still have to go out there and play a good round [on Saturday].”

Zhang, still just 19, is the only player to advance to the final round in all four years of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, but she’ll be taking each hole as it comes on Augusta’s hallowed turf in order to secure the win.

“I’m just going to try my best to bring out the best that I can do when I’m going out there and playing at Augusta, and I think that every hole, every score matters,” Zhang said.

“With that, I’m just going to play as hard as I can and try the best that I can.”
