Ian Poulter has hit out at Ryder Cup selectors should they ultimately decide that LIV golfers will take no further part in the famous biennial contest.
The likes of Poulter and his fellow European LIV rebels await the outcome of an arbitration hearing in London set to determine their eligibility for future Ryder Cups.
As things stand, the Englishman has been allowed to compete on the DP World Tour but should the seven-time Ryder Cupper be banned from future contests, it would mean relinquishing the chance of becoming a future European Captain; something Poulter would dearly love to do.
Asked about his Captaincy chances, as well as thoughts on the future of LIV Golf in an Instagram Q&A, Poulter said;
“[The] LIV Golf League is here to stay. It’s only 30 rounds old and every start up business takes time,” he declared.
“I’m so proud to see how far it’s come in such a short space of time. It’s an incredible business and product and it will be incredible.
“And if the DP World Tour chose to not have any LIV golfer as captain after they have supported them and still do for over 25 years, then shame on them. Sad but that’s on them.
“Time will tell and once all the info is out things will change I’m sure.”
